Ownership tax benefits

Tax reduction: 

Minimum rate (EUR 120 per year) for battery electric vehicles (BEVs)s.
Reduced rate (EUR 140 per year) for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) ≤ 50 g/km CO2.

 

Company tax benefits

A tax incentive for companies paying corporation tax is in place in the form of Accelerated Capital Allowances for Energy Efficient Equipment.  Since 2008, this scheme has been allowing companies to write off 100 % of the purchase value of qualifying energy-efficient equipment against their profit in the year of purchase. The scheme supports the purchase of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), hybrid vehicles and the associated charging equipment.

Purchase subsidies

Grant support where the consumer receives up to EUR 5 000 off the cost price of the vehicle.

 

Other financial benefits

Free charging at normal and high-power public recharging points. Free on-street parking while charging in some local authorities. Regulations made to provide for distinct marking of on-street space for charging of EVs.

AF infrastructure incentives

Free installation of domestic chargers up to EUR 2 000
