Ownership tax benefits

Tax reduction – CO2-based tax

Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) are exempt from paying annual car tax. Plug-in hybrid (PH)EVs pay car tax with at least 50 % reduced rate, which is decided by local governments.

Purchase subsidies

Grant of EUR 4 450 (RON 20 000) for a BEV (100 % electric). Grant of EUR 1 100 (RON 5 000) for a PHEV.

A subvention of EUR 10 000 is granted for the purchase of a new pure EV to which RON 6 500 can be added for scrapping a vehicle older than 8 years. Funding is maximum 50 % of the value of the purchased car.
Scrappage bonus increases 15 %, by RON 7 500 (EUR 1 500), which is granted for scrapping a vehicle older than 8 years and a bonus of EUR 4 500 for the acquisition a new hybrid PHEV and RON 3 000 (EUR 610) for the acquisition a new hybrid non plug-in vehicle. Cars with compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid petroleum gas (LPG) systems receive an increased eco-bonus of RON 1 500 (EUR 305).

 

Other financial benefits

RON 600 million (EUR 1,2 million) available for the replacement of school minibuses. 2 500-3 000 schools will receive e-buses.

AF infrastructure incentives

A refund of maximum EUR 2 500 for stations < 22 kW and EUR 30 000 for stations > 22 kW.
